This site was created to supersede the old Defend U. site at defendu.com and the Rape Escape site at rapeescape.com so we could have an online vehicle that provided a gathering place for instructors, students, members and visitors to engage, make comments, exchange information and add a richer experience. You’ll also get timely information by following the Defend University Facebook page, the Women’s Self-Defense Institute’s Facebook page and the Defend University Twitter page @defenduniv.
Although we consider Defend U. to be a “virtual” university, there are 3 campuses: Phoenix, New York and Dublin, Ireland. You’ll find various classes, courses and workshops being offered at each campus. Visit each for specific information on what’s happening now.
Our goal is to present information and ideas that you can use. Sometimes the information and discussion can be provocative — challenging what we all thought was the truth. Sometimes it comes down to common sense validated by successful application in real-life situations. Sometimes it might even seem contradictory. The point is to explore a number of viewpoints, options, strategies and tactics that are applicable to a number of different situations.
